Robert Zildjian formed Sabian in 1981 after a falling out with his brother Armand Zildjian. Using years of experience he had developed from his past career Sabian were always going to go on to become one the leading cymbal manufacturers in the world. These days they can list a whole host of big name artists who play their cymbals. Perhaps most notably the likes of Jojo Mayer and Chad Smith.

Introduced in 1993, Sabian’s AAX range has been one of the most popular and widely available cymbal collections on the market. AAX cymbals stand out for their brightness, cut and musicality as well as a wide dynamic range, which them an ideal range for modern pop and R&B drummers. Also known for their explosive sound and extreme durability, these cymbals are a top choice for modern rock and metal drummers.

Like most cymbals from Sabian, AAX cymbals are made from B20 Bronze which gives them their pronounced sound and extended durability. New thinner AAX cymbals offer a palette of darker tones to their range, while still sitting on the brighter side of thinner cymbals. All Sabian AAX cymbals are dual-lathed and available in both a brilliant and traditional finish.

Compared to the AA range, AAX cymbals have brighter tones, with a more powerful and high energy projection. AAX cymbals are often compared to Ziljdian A Custom cymbals, especially cymbals in the brilliant finish.
