British Drum Co.’s 14 x 6.5″ Big Softy snare drum is made from a tulip
and cherry 7.5 mm blended shell for a truly unique look and sound.
As you could perhaps guess from it’s name, The Big Softy has a wonderful deep, fat and soft sound. British Drum Company describe it as, the warmest snare out of their collection and perfect for the studio. It’s hard to argue when most of the time in a studio is spent trying to fatten the snare sound. Why not get it right in the first place?
As one of the most exciting drum companies in Britain, British Drum Company drums have risen to become some of the most sought after drums in the UK today. Their drums consist of handmade shells produced in the UK using high quality woods such as Scandinavian Birch, adhering to British drum making traditions; with the focus on stunning design, innovation and high quality materials.
Founded in 2015 by award winning master drum maker Keith Keough, Brit Award winning Kasabian drummer Ian Matthews, world renowned comedian and drum lover Al Murray, Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Corps drummer Stu Warmington, and prolific engineering designer Alan Kitching.
The key to the British Drum Company’s signature sound is their Cold-Press Moulding technique used in the manufacture of their drums. As the name suggests, this eliminates the use of heat in the shell building process, maintaining the full sonic potential of the wood which would otherwise be compromised by the addition of heat in the pressing procedure.
The Big Softy is lovingly hand made to a secret recipe with twelve months planning and testing by the British Drum Co. team.
