A modern spin on the classic Ludwig sound. Using Maple rather than mahogany, marking the 2nd generation of Ludwig greats that defined the late 60-70s.
As a shell design the original version of the Legacy Maple only existed between 1968 and 1976 but in those 8 short years the sound was captured on some of the worlds most iconic performances which is a big part of the reason that it has been revived for the modern age. A cult-classic sound that offers presence, low-end, and focus in one stunning package.
The key to the Ludwig Legacy’s classic tone starts with a cross-laminated American Poplar centre ply which lends focus to the naturally rich low-end tones provided by the exterior Maple plies. This classic shell combination is further stabilised with rounded bearing edge and 1/4″ solid maple reinforcement rings.
The bearing edge itself is a 30 degree inner cut with a 1/4″ radius round over. This produces a pure, well-rounded tone, Legacy Series calls back to the unforgettable sound that lead the way in pop and rock music throughout the 20th Century.
