There are some sounds that traditional cymbals just can’t handle and that’s where Splash/China/FX Cymbals come in. The full range of sounds and styles available is near enough endless so this is an area where drummers can really build their own sound.
From gentle and affordable splashes like the Stagg SH Splash to the devastatingly loud Sabian AAX Holy China (designed for The Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith) and everything in between we’re sure we have the right sound to suit your sonic palette.
Brass Splash/China/FX Cymbals are the cheapest type available but wont dent and bend like starter cymbals can.
Hand crafted Splash/China/FX Cymbals such as Sabian’s HHX, Istanbul Agop’s Traditional range, Paiste’s 2002 range and Meinl’s Byzance Traditional range are generally seen as the highest quality available. Hand hammering techniques bring out depth and darkness that other methods can’t achieve. However machine finished B20 Splash/China/FX Cymbals such as the Sabian AAX range and the Istanbul Agop Xist range tend to be a bit brighter and aggressive than their hand hammered counterparts. This makes them great for rock, punk and metal. We personally recommend the Stagg Lion Chinas. Although they lack the refined craftsmanship of more expensive brands these low priced chinas are still made from B20 bronze and sound great! Who really needs refined craftsmanship when you’re buying something you want to sound trashy anyway?
