Cymbal packs are a great way to save money when purchasing cymbals as the price of packs are always much cheaper than the price of buying the cymbals individually. Sometimes this discount can be the equivalent of getting an entire cymbal free!
Brass cymbal packs are the cheapest type available but wont dent and bend like starter cymbals can. Paiste 101 sets are amazing value for anyone making their first cymbal purchases.
Hand crafted cymbal packs such as Sabian’s HHX and Meinl’s Traditional Byzance range are generally seen as the highest quality available. Hand hammering techniques bring out depth and darkness that other methods can’t achieve. However machine finished B20 cymbal sets such as the Sabian AAX range and the Istanbul Agop Xist range tend to be a bit brighter and more aggressive than their hand hammered counterparts. This makes them great for rock, punk and metal. The Xist range in particular is priced like a mid range ride cymbal but sounds like pro level making it a great value choice.
Really feel like going all out? Why not go for Neil Peart’s entire paragon cymbal setup! A bargain at only £2600 for 11 cymbals complete with matching flight case.
