The Meinl Sonic Energy Giant Tam Tams are masterpieces of instrument making that are traditionally hand-crafted in Germany in the European gong-making tradition. The gong craftsmen manufacture these gongs to respond with exceptional sensitivity in all playing situations. Lots of hours were spent handcrafting the metal, that’s how they get their unique tone: It’s relaxing and atmospheric. The center of these gongs has many fine hammer blows and is slightly sunken into the surface. The surrounding surface is scraped outward in a star shape and marked by large distinctive hammer blows. These beautiful instruments satisfy the highest sonic demands of sound practitioners, sound meditation studios, or leading orchestras. The immense size and power of this instrument will leave any listener in awe and wonder. As matching Gong Mallets we recommend MTTB-40, MGB-L, and for example MGM-L-R, available in different colours.
Please note: This is a handcrafted instrument forged by heating the metal alloy to great temperatures, and then hand hammering the surface to achieve a desired pitch and tone. Our handmade process makes each gong unique, with no two gongs having identical-looking surfaces. Variations in hand hammer patterns and colouration from the heating process will occur, and it’s a testament to our highly intricate work that results in exquisite sound.

We do our best to make sure every aspect of your Drum Central order goes smoothly but in the event that an item arrives either damaged or incorrect then notify us within 14 days and we will arrange a free collection so as to get the item swapped or replaced.
If your purchase develops a fault within the 2 year warranty period you can return it to us and we will repair or replace it. A fault is defined as a defect that you would not normally expect to occur through normal wear and tear and that has not been caused by improper use.
