Robert Zildjian formed Sabian in 1981 after a falling out with his brother Armand Zildjian. Using years of experience he had developed from his past career Sabian were always going to go on to become one the leading cymbal manufacturers in the world. These days they can list a whole host of big name artists who play their cymbals. Perhaps most notably the likes of Jojo Mayer and Chad Smith.

Sabian B8X cymbals were introduced as the follow up to their B8 range, replacing them as their entry level bronze cymbals. The Canadian cymbal company made several improvements with this updated range, including the addition of a hammered bell and a significant increase in the hammering on the body of the cymbal. The bell also features smoother lathing than its predecessor.

B8X cymbals get their name from the particular copper alloy that they are made from, B8 bronze. This is an alloy consisting of 92 percent copper to 8 percent tin which is used on many entry level cymbals; however it is also famed for particular sonic qualities, especially in the higher frequencies. B8 bronze is the step up from brass cymbals (which you will find in most toy or beginner cymbals) so even though the Sabian B8X are still entry level cymbals, they do perform with a much higher quality due to the alloy used and craftsmanship applied. Cymbals made with B8 bronze are particularly bright and focused, making them a good choice for punk and metal drummers who need their cymbals to pierce through the volume and distortion of amplified guitars.

The Sabian B8X Performance Set is a very popular item in this range, giving up and coming drummers a full set of good quality B8 bronze cymbals, without a heavy price tag.
