Description
Istanbul in Turkey has long held the title of capital of the cymbal making world with the tradition of hand making cymbals dating back to the 16th Century there. Formed by Agop Tomurcuk around 1978 after the original K factory where he was foreman closed down, Istanbul Agop helped keep alive the art of hand made cymbals when the efficiency of mechanised production lines had all but replaced it. Istanbul Agop Cymbals embrace the ancient traditions of Turkish, hand-hammered cymbals but take a progressive approach toward sound, design and manufacturing.
The Istanbul Agop Xist series offers a modern edge with a history of world class leading traditional cymbal making. The cymbals produce a powerful modern sound thanks to the pre-form casting manufacturing method, which requires 3000 less hammer blows to finish than traditional methods. The innovative Xist range that blends modern production techniques with traditional cymbal making processes, They are able to offer professional quality, cast B20 (80% Copper, 20% Tin) cymbals at a price that is accessible to drummers at any level.
Like most machined cymbals Istanbul Agop Xist cymbals create a bright focussed modern sound that is great for rock playing whilst still being versatile enough to be played at a lower volume. They are often compared to the well known Sabian AAX range.
The Istanbul Agop 24″ Xist Ride Cymbal offers a clear, focused attack with a dark, warm sustain. Moderate overtones.
