Description

Ludwig Universal 14″ x 5.5″ Black Brass Snare Drum. This 14 x 5.5-inch brass snare retains a broad backbeat but speaks faster than the deeper Universal models. The shallower shell keeps the decay tidy and ghost notes immediate, making it easy to move between restrained playing and a hard rimshot.

Shell and Sound:

A 1mm brass shell provides a rounded metallic note rather than a brittle high-end splash. It opens up at medium tuning while keeping a crisp attack when the batter head is tightened.

Hardware and Response:

Die-cast hoops focus the rimshot into a solid crack and control some of the head ring. The 20-strand snare wire fills in the backbeat while staying responsive to softer strokes.

  • 1mm all Brass shell- (black nickel-plated)
  • Chrome Triple Flange hoops
  • heavy-duty tube lugs
  • P88i throw-off
  • P35 butt plate
  • 20 strand snare wires
