The Ludwig 22″ Classic Oak Fab 3-Piece Shell Pack – Tennessee Whiskey is built around 5-ply, 6.5 mm crossover shells with a 3-ply maple core and American red oak inner and outer plies, paired with dual 45-degree bearing edges. The maple core reins in the oak attack and adds low-end weight, while the oak inner and outer plies keep each stroke sharply defined. Dual 45-degree bearing edges bring extra focus and make tuning changes easy to hear on stage. The 22″, 13″ and 16″ Fab layout feels broad and muscular, with enough tuning space for rock, metal and louder live work.

The Shells
Ludwig’s Classic Oak shell is built from a standard 7-ply, 6mm shell which is formulated for optimum resonance and tonality. Its cross laminated, 2.4mm centre three-ply maple core panel is inserted between inner and outer two-ply panels of oak using Ludwig’s own Radio Frequency Shell Technology moulding process.
The Bearing Edge
Classic Oak Shells feature dual 45-degree bearing edge for increased focus, attack, and tuning control. The Maple core of the shell forms the apex of the bearing edge which helps with even tuning across the drum.
