The Shells

Ludwig’s Classic Oak shell is built from a standard 7-ply, 6mm shell which is formulated for optimum resonance and tonality. Its cross laminated, 2.4mm centre three-ply maple core panel is inserted between inner and outer two-ply panels of oak using Ludwig’s own Radio Frequency Shell Technology moulding process.

The Bearing Edge

Classic Oak Shells feature dual 45-degree bearing edge for increased focus, attack, and tuning control. The Maple core of the shell forms the apex of the bearing edge which helps with even tuning across the drum.

The Sound

Fast attack, faster decay. Huge volume with a cutting presence. These shells are definitely not a jack of all trades but they do what they do well making them an excellent choice for metal and hard rock drummers who want to cut through the noise.
